Pendle Finance is a protocol that enables the creation and trading of tokenized yield.
Tokenized yield refers to a way of generating profits or earnings by holding and owning tokens in a decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
To understand tokenized yield, we’ll breakdown the concepts into two major parts, TOKENS and YIELD
Tokens: Tokens are used to represent digital assets or units of value in the context of cryptocurrencies or blockchain. These tokens can be created on a blockchain platform and used for various things, including accessing particular services, indicating ownership in a project, or facilitating transactions.
Yield: Yield is the term used to describe the income or profits produced by an investment. Yield is a term used frequently in traditional finance to refer to interest, dividends, or other types of income derived from holding investments such as stocks, bonds, or savings accounts.
Tokenized Yield: In the context of DeFi, the term “tokenized yield” refers to the ability to receive a return on your investment by holding particular tokens or taking part in particular DeFi protocols.
In DeFi, several platforms and protocols allow users to lend or stake their tokens, support decentralized exchanges with liquidity, or participate in other financial activities. Users can gain rewards by participating in these activities, often presented as extra tokens or cryptocurrencies.
Individuals can benefit from tokenized yield by participating in decentralized financial applications and ecosystems and earning interest in their cryptocurrency holdings. It enables people to profit from the potential explosion and growth of the Bitcoin sector by offering an alternative to conventional banking and investment methods.
Taking a closer look into the Pendle Dapp, the landing page gives two distinct but similar call to actions.
Launch Simple App and Launch Pro App
Firstly, we’ll get started by exploring the simple App.
To get started, I connected my wallet to the Pendle finance Dapp on the Arbitrum Chain, navigated to the explore discount section and a number of yield info cards showed up.
I clicked on the USDT card, and a more detailed info page that shows my percentage profit in APY showed up.
Generally, investing about $3 worth of Ethereum on Pendle gives a slightly higher yield than other platforms.
Now switching to the Explore pool section, which has no lock-in period and is flexible to exit anytime.
In this section, the cards which show up are very similar to the cards in the discount section, but we can notice the much higher APY returns and Information containing the pools to add liquidity and their origin protocols.
Clicking on the ARB-ETH Pool card, we must first acquire the ARB-ETH LP token before staking into the Pendel Dapp.
To get to the Pro App, you’ll have to switch the toggle on the navbar; the Pro App basically gives more detailed information on the application and a calculator to calculate expected yields.
There’s also a learning page on the Pro app that helps teach users the terms and how-to’s of the platform
$PENDEL is the Native governance token of the Pendle Dapp, it’s an ERC-20 token, and It is a pure utility token at launch, with governance functions that came after the protocol matured. The current market cap of $PENDLE is $81,280,844 USD2.
The vePENDLE token decays over time, reaching zero value at the end of the lock-in duration. Users can then unlock their staked PENDLE. Pendle obtains a 3% fee from all yield acquired by YT.
In conclusion, Pendle Finance offers a remarkable chance for anyone looking to build generational wealth during the impending bull cycle. Pendle is a desirable investment due to its impressive growth, creative business models, and native token value proposition.
