but even better Ethereum is a whole technology, the currency part of it is just part of the technology to create transactions and value.
Lets take a closer look
Ethereum was proposed in late 2013 by a Vitalik Buterin, a cryptocurrency researcher and programmer.
Ethereum provides a decentralized virtual machine, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which can execute scripts using an international network of public nodes.
Buterin became interested in bitcoin in 2011 and co-founded Bitcoin Magazine. Eventually, he dropped out of university to focus on crypto full-time. Buterin built Ethereum as a blockchain platform that other applications could be built on top of. Buterin says that bitcoin does one thing and does one thing well. He compares it to a pocket calculator whereas he sees Ethereum as a smartphone. A smartphone can run a pocket calculator app, but it can also run other apps.
