Arkham Review

Have you heard of Blockchain analytical tools and wondered how it relates to Blockchain explorers?

Are you a crypto investor looking for a research tool to explore?

Are you interested in getting Alphas from studying blockchain transactions?

Please note that the term ‘Alpha’ which is used in trad-fi and crypto, means a piece of knowledge that is new or not common knowledge, that very often gives a trader an edge in the market.

Perhaps you are wondering what analytical tool Media and Defi researchers use to conduct on-chain analysis?

Well, Arkham computer built by Arkham intelligence could be the answer.

It is common for on-chain analysts to give updates on whale transactions and hacks in Web3, and these analysts do this through analytical tools like Arkham.

It is also essential to note that asset tracking dates way back, but the blockchain has made it even easier.

TRADING AND MONITORING ASSET VALUE: BEFORE AND AFTER THE INTERNET

Prior to the Internet era, asset and value management has always been necessary. Right after human communication, the next is the transfer of value.

For a successful transfer of asset or value, the two parties must come to terms either by referring to previous transactions, public estimated value, or even value based on urgency.

Decades before now, people had to call or visit the broker to find out the price or to place a trade for a publicly traded stock or asset, and this was not a reliable method.

However, the rise of electronic trading has helped revolutionize the financial markets, making it possible for traders to buy and sell securities and assets from anywhere in the world, irrespective of time and distance.

This has greatly increased the efficiency and speed of trading, as well as reduced the costs associated with maintaining physical trading floors.

BLOCKCHAIN EXPLORER VS BLOCKCHAIN ANALYTICAL TOOLS

A Bitcoin explorer called Blockexplorer was one of the first tools that made it possible for people to explore the Bitcoin blockchain and gain insight into its mechanism and token transfers.

It played a critical role in helping to build trust and transparency in the early days of the Bitcoin network and helped to lay the foundation for the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

The development of blockchain explorers played a role in the evolution of blockchain analytical tools.

By providing users with a simple and accessible way to view, search, and track transactions within blockchain networks, blockchain explorers helped create a greater understanding of blockchain networks and their data.

As blockchain networks and the cryptocurrency industry grew, the need for better market intelligence also experienced a spike.

With the growth of the cryptocurrency market, the investors and traders in the space required better tools to help them make informed decisions about the market and individual assets.

Blockchain analytical tools provide more in-depth insights and features for analysing and understanding the data contained within blockchain networks.

ARKHAM INTELLIGENCE USE CASES

The following are the aspects to research when doing a Fundamental Analysis of a crypto product:

    • Product quality and use cases

    • Traction (Community inclusive)

    • Market Cap

    • Team

    • Product/ Project Documentation

    • Investors and VCs involved

Moving forward, you will need a blockchain analytical tool to analyse accurately.

Amid blockchain analytical tools like Glassnode, NansenDune Analytics, and Chainalysis, Arkham intelligence was developed to help analyse blockchain data with many features like Visualizer, Entity page, and real-time view of assets.

Some of the use cases of the Arkham computer include:

    • Unravelling entities and individuals behind pseudonymous crypto wallet addresses

    • Follow-up real-time activities of top traders/investors

    • Predict future market movements by using on-chain data to track the flow of funds, track your portfolio and historical performance

    • Conduct due diligence, conduct research on & observe illicit fund flows on-chain tracking.

    • Inform research & reporting using real-time on-chain data & analytics.

    • Alpha discovery and risk management in assets trading

 FEATURES OF ARKHAM INTELLIGENCE

The following are features of Arkham Intelligence:

Note that the Arkham computer is actively under development, so expect more features in the future.

  •

– Entity Page

Have a complete view of the activities of any entity or address. You can view their portfolio, historical balances, exchange usage, P&L, and top counterparties, as well as a list of transactions which can be sorted and filtered

– Visualizer

Translate raw blockchain transactions into clear network maps.

– Dashboards

Build & share unique dashboards of these entities and addresses.

– Filtering

You can filter and sort transactions across the platform to only see what you want to see. You can filter and sort by: time, counterparty, token, token amount, & USD Value.

– Alerts

Set custom alerts for on & off-chain activity & view their history against pricing & other important signals.

– Explorer

Access to a full blockchain explorer. View specific details on any transaction.

As of the time of writing, you can only use Arkham Intelligence on the Ethereum Blockchain but they recently announced their partnership with BNB Chain.

‘BNB Chain will be added to Arkham, contributing to their promise of building more transparency in the ecosystem and furthering their mission of building a ‘Total Crypto Intelligence’’  this was stated in an email to community members.

This would be a huge data set for investors to play with, as the BNB chain currently holds nearly $7 billion of total value locked (TVL) on its chain. The blockchain processes nearly 3 million transactions and $200 million of volume per day.

3) After successfully adding your wallet(s), all its assets will be listed for you to analyze either by using the top right corner balance history or the transactions section at the bottom right corner.

You can also view this transaction in graphical representation by clicking on the visualizer at the top right corner.

This is my favourite part, as this allows you to see transactions in the form of lines from one entity(in most cases, entities have more than one wallet address) to another and the specific amount.

These lines also come in colours, where the red line signifies outflow and green inflows. The entities have colours around them, and here’s a guide:

    • Red – Signifies central exchanges,

    • Green – Signifies decentralized exchanges

    • Yellow – Signifies deposit address

    • Black – Uncategorized

    • Blue – Signifies individuals and funds.

ANALYZING JUMP TRADING; A MARKET MAKER USING ARKHAM INTELLIGENCE

In this review section, I would love to analyze Jump trading.

We would do that by either typing an entity name or an address at the top center of the Arkham computer; in this case, it is Jump trading.

So basically, we can see the Jump trading portfolio sitting at 3.5 billion USD in real-time, with 2.9 billion in ETH and 306 million USD in SHIB.

With our display, we can determine when jump trading made its first deposit and from what entity it received it.

We can also filter transactions using Time, Value(volume), Token, Inflow or Outflow, from or to (with a particular entity or address).

The filtering feature makes it possible to filter transactions between entities by increasing the USD(volume), selecting options like a decentralized exchange, centralized exchange or adding the entities involved in the transaction.

CONCLUSION

Blockchain analytical tools like Arkham intelligence are helping investors make data-driven decisions by analysing transaction data which can be seen as entity positions, new entries in the market, large volume activity (whales) and insider activity.

It is possible to analyse entities who are trading a particular asset or token and at what volume, their entry levels and how this will affect the order book.
